The community of the University of Limpopo (students and staff) were invited to take part in an auditioning process that selected the best 16 voices that formulated the "South African Dancing Voices". The audition lasted for only 5 minutes during which candidates sang different pitches to check you voice range, and sang a small musical piece. There was no appointment required, Candidates just showed up and sang. Rehersals started on 8th Math 2010 and results for auditions were announced on03 March 2010. These Auditions for 2010 were conducted as follows:-

Venue: New Cinema Hall (next to Student Cafeteria/Thami Square)
Rehearsal time schedules for the choir will depend on time table free-slots and student workloads. We only rehearse for 30 minutes three times a week. (Mon, Thurs, Friday 13h10-13h40).

Name of choir
The name of this ensemble shall remain "South African Dancing Voices" to signify the flexibility of not only singing but dancing to a variety of tunes and traditional or cultural melodies, emphasizing a healthy vocal sound. The name of the choir gives us an open-ended flexibility to determine the size of choir and choice of music.
Overture
South African Dancing Voices enjoy singing South African music composed by South African Composers. We also sing international music from acclaimed composers and also compose our own music to express our historical and ethnical experiences. Our activities will include promoting good music and art by contributing to community growth and development so as to foster principles of health, peace, justice, accountable leadership and responsibility in line with the country's prime objectives. South Africa is a land of music and we will use this platform to promote messages that empower and develop the standard and quality of living in our communities, contribute to the upliftment of moral and spiritual values, and to provide guidance that will help our communities manage daily challenges with confidence.
History of Choir
South African Dancing Voices (est. 2010) is a 16-membered ensemble formed by music loving men and women from University of Limpopo, South Africa. The purpose of forming the ensemble is not only to enjoy music and vocal freedom of artistic expression but to also use music as a medium of conveying a message of community building through singing, service and development. We SING to provide singers and music lovers with an opportunity to enjoy a sound quality of choral music, promote healthy singing, promote cultural or traditional expressions, raise funds for humanity, send messages of self-awareness, send messages of social and health well-being, and promote the spirit of Ubuntu (humanity and brotherhood). We provide SERVICE to human development areas such as training new singing voices, volunteer in hospital patient-care, partnership with local law enforcement bodies, collaborate with local community leadership, lend a hand in orphanage and community building projects, and promote education by working with schools' educators and learners. We promote DEVELOPMENT through rallying experts in their fields to educate and empower the community through rallies, public addresses, and service projects. We plan not only to inject life in our communities but also to be of service to the province, the nation and also braden to establish international ties. We are proudly South African and celebrate our cultural diversities through musical expression.
The Operating committee
The operating committee shall be composed of four persons: The director, marketing officer, two voice part leaders(one male and one female).
Duties of the director shall include:-
1. Directing the choir and being responsible for the choir's well-being at all times,
2. Directing all activites of the choir,
3. Planning for all activites of the choir,
4. Choosing music and arranging repertoires for performances,
5. Convening singing rehearsals and meetings,
6. Co-ordinating all projects and related activities,
7. Serve as the main contact person for choir correspondences.
The Marketing Officer shall be responsible for:-
1. Facilitating choir administration and advice accordingly,
2. Collaborating with external stake-holders,
3. Assisting during choir performances to ensure ease of performance organization,
4. Assisting in financial management of choir activites.
The two voice part leaders shall be elected from choristers and will be responsible for:-
1. Representing all choristers in choir activites,
2. Assisting in choir management and advicing of director,
3. Assisting in making sure the choir is prepared for performances,
4. Taking part in decision-making during choir meetings,
5. Co-ordinating voice-parts to ensure freedom of vocal singing and expression
